We offer placement opportunities in private general practices and Aboriginal community-controlled health services across remote, rural and regional areas.
The minimum placement is 2 weeks; for anything more than that we can negotiate a contract length with you.
To work as a GP locum, you’ll need:
- unconditional Medical Board registration
- current resume, including details for two referees
- ABN number or ability to obtain one
- current Medical Indemnity insurance
- Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card) or the ability to acquire one
- National Criminal History Check
- proof of being a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners, or the Australasian College of Rural and Remote Medicine, or Vocationally Registered.
We’d especially love to hear from you if you have the following:
- experience in Aboriginal health
- experience working in a remote setting
- current manual driver’s licence
- emergency skills training.
We also ask that GP locums follow our Code of Conduct, which outlines what is expected of locums during their time in the NT.

As a GP locum, you’ll receive the following:

- travel and accommodation organised at no cost to you
- an orientation manual and further information sessions if required
- assistance with provider numbers and other administrative requirements before starting with the health service.
