Central Australia Aboriginal Congress (Congress) are looking for GP Locums for their Kaltukatjara (Docker River) clinic.
 
This is a rewarding opportunity to work in Indigenous Health, with the Pitjantjatjara and Ngaanyatjara people of the Petermann Ranges, situated 670kms southwest of Alice Springs.
 
Kaltukatjara has a population of approximately 300 people and the township is situated on the Docker Creek.
 
Congress has expanded to become the largest Indigenous community-controlled health organization in the Northern Territory, providing comprehensive, holistic, and culturally appropriate primary health care services to the Indigenous people living in Central Australia.
 
The Clinic
Kaltukatjara Clinic delivers clinical services to Indigenous people and non-Indigenous residents of Kaltukatjara (Docker River) Community. The clinic provides primary health care, on-call emergency services, women’s health, child health checks, healthy lifestyle promotion. The clinic also receives regular visits from a range of specialists.
 
Services provided by the clinic include:
  • Health checks (includes child health checks)
  • Immunisations
  • Medication
  • Health education
  • Other Congress and external services
  • Healthy lifestyle promotion
Benefits
  • Daily rate – $2,000.00 per day
  • No on-call or weekend work
  • $1,000.00 placement bonus for working 20+ days
  • One off travel bonus of $400 for travel outside of placement dates
  • $400 payment for public holiday days not worked

  • 27 May 2024 ongoing
  • minimum 3 – 4 weeks placement

Transport and Accommodation
  • All transport from the nearest major airport to and from a location
  • Accommodation and vehicle will be provided
Clinic Opening Hours
  • Monday, Tuesday and Friday – 8.30am to 5.00pm
  • Wednesday – 9.30am to 5.00pm
  • Thursday – 8.30am to 12.00pm
Patient Record System
  • This clinic uses Communicare, with orientation provided
Eligibility to Apply
  • Must have current non-restricted registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and general practice specialisation
  • Cultural safety skills, knowledge of Aboriginal health and chronic disease management
  • Previous working experience in Indigenous Health
