Compass Conference a huge success

In August, over 400 health professionals converged in Darwin for the Northern Territory PHN’s Compass conference, the Territory’s leading event for primary healthcare professionals.

Compass was an incredible success with over 25 exhibitor booths, 20 educational sessions and 3 keynote presentations, leaving attendees with a deeper understanding of the 2024 theme ‘Rethink, Reimagine and Revisit: Innovation in Health’.

Northern Territory PHN Chief Executive Officer, Gill Yearsley, said it was a thrill to deliver the conference again this year.

“The event is designed in a way that not only offers a glimpse into the future of health care, but also focuses on the practical application of cutting-edge research,” Gill said.

Held every two years, the conference provides a collaborative platform for general practitioners, nurses, allied health professionals and Aboriginal health workers to explore innovative healthcare solutions and encourage each other.

“It’s a great opportunity to get inspired about why I work in health and the positives of working in the NT,” General Practitioner Brad said.

Dietician Tara, reflected on her experience at Compass.

“It’s really nice to see a big group of clinicians come together and discuss different things. I also think that the opportunity for learning is amazing here too,” Tara said.

Northern Territory PHN is committed to supporting and promoting events that empower healthcare professionals across the Northern Territory.

‘It’s so valuable to gather with other health professionals and recognise we are all working towards the same goal of providing better healthcare for everyone,” Remote Nurse Educator May said.
