What does our board do?

The Northern Territory PHN Board provides essential oversight and governance of the Northern Territory Primary Health Network (NT PHN), an independent not-for-profit organisation funded by the Australian Government to commission primary health services and recruit health professionals in the NT.

It is important that the board attracts committed and dedicated board members who can bring diverse experience, particularly in primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Directors on our board come from many backgrounds, ranging from healthcare professionals to leaders in other industries.

As a board member, you will collaborate with individuals drawn from various sectors and regions, each bringing unique perspectives and invaluable insights. This diversity enriches our discussions and decision-making processes, ensuring a well-rounded approach to improving health services in the Northern Territory.

What is involved in being on our board?

Board directors at NT PHN serve in a part-time capacity, allowing you time to contribute significantly to the strategic direction of primary health while balancing other fulltime commitments. This role is not only rewarding but also remunerated, making it an ideal opportunity for professionals looking to make an impact in the community beyond your current role.

Northern Territory PHN collaborates closely with the primary health sector to foster coordination, support the health workforce and introduce innovative health programs and services.

Why apply for a board position with us?

NT PHN stands at the forefront of healthcare governance in the Northern Territory and we are committed to advancing the health and wellbeing of people in the Territory. With robust operations and a clear organisational structure, we are well-positioned to tackle the significant health challenges of today and tomorrow.

As a board member, you will have the opportunity to contribute to health governance and policy-making, leveraging your unique insights and local knowledge to drive impactful initiatives in the Territory.

Am I a suitable candidate?

We’re inviting candidates with appropriate knowledge of the Northern Territory and the health sector.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to consider this opportunity. By being part of our board, you will have the opportunity to strengthen First Nations voices and perspectives in healthcare decision-making. You will help us drive healthcare initiatives that directly benefit First Nations communities and promote the wellbeing of these communities.
