The Graduate Nurse Program Expansion: Scoping & Co-Design Project for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services report, commissioned by NT PHN, presents an evidence-informed model co-designed with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) to support new graduate nurses entering remote primary health care.
The report shares sector learnings gathered through a co-design process, including:
The model outlines core components such as cultural safety training, accredited clinical education and structured mentoring, which organisations can adapt to their local context. It is intended as a sector resource to guide planning discussions and support organisations exploring approaches to expand or enhance graduate nurse pathways in remote settings.
The Graduate Nurse Program Extension Report was co-designed using a participatory action research framework and involved four key stages.
Northern Territory PHN commissioned and supported the co-design of this report but does not fund the implementation of the Graduate Nurse Program.
