Why Catholic Care NT?
CatholicCare NT is a Territory wide NGO with placed based services across Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Wadeye, Daly River, Tiwi Islands, Jabiru and South East Alice Springs.
 
They provide a broad range of family counselling and support, financial wellbeing, domestic and family violence programs, housing, aged care advocacy, AOD, mental health, employment, and community development programs. These programs are funded through various NT and Australian Government contracts.

What’s the role?

  • Work with community members to set priorities for strengthening social and emotional wellbeing and preventing suicide
  • Establish and facilitate projects that have been identified by the community
  • Projects may include coordinating and facilitating events, yarning groups, and cultural trips. Also, video, art or music projects that for wellbeing across the community.
  • This position will also help families who are healing from suicide, providing outreach visits and phone calls, practical support and information and helping them connect with other services.

Is this the right role for you?

  • Relevant certificate level qualification and two years’ experience in mental health, community services, youth work, case work or counselling.
  • Proven ability to engage with young people.
  • Strong communication skills including ability to run yarning groups and share knowledge for practice within a small team.
  • Knowledge of culture and protocols relevant to the Tennant Creek area
  • Understanding of challenges and opportunities effecting wellbeing in the Tennant Creek area

NT PHN/RWA NT may be able to offer relocation support and clinical educational financial assistance to health professionals who are relocating to the NT or moving within the NT to a greater remoteness area classification for the purposes of employment and further clinical education.
