Central Australian Aboriginal Congress (Congress) is rolling out an innovative approach to health care delivery and are seeking experienced rural generalist GPs who want to make a difference in remote health AND have more downtime!
 
Why Congress?
 
The Mparntwe Urgent Care Clinic in Alice Springs is operated by Congress on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.
 
Supported by a highly skilled multidisciplinary team this state-of-the-art facility, includes, onsite x-ray, diagnostic ultrasound, medicine dispensary and 2 bed acute treatment space. Your skills will help improve access to bulk-billed Urgent Care while reducing pressure on the overwhelmed hospital system. This open and welcoming space allows efficient triaging and prioritisation of client care to all patients within the Alice Springs Community providing access to quality, patient centred care within short term, episodic care for urgent conditions that are not immediately life threatening.

What’s the role?
 
Your new role is an innovative and flexible model of FIFO work blocks that will involve a network/group of independent contractor GPs, working to improve the way health services are delivered in Alice Springs.
 
Based in a state-of-the-art facility, you’ll help improve access to bulk-billed urgent care while reducing pressure on the busy hospital system, by providing patients with short term, episodic care for urgent conditions that are not immediately life threatening.
 
What’s in it for you?
 
Enjoy a 12-month commitment for a minimum of 12-day FIFO work blocks, with your choice of time off from the following options:
 
  • Option 1: 12 days on (1 weekend and two weeks), 16 days off (three weekends and 2 weeks) – income for experienced rural GPs up to $350k annually which includes $50k combined WIP and rural generalist incentive.
  • Option 2: 12 days on (1 weekend and two weeks), 30 days off (five weekends and 4 weeks) – income for experienced rural GPs up to $250k annually which includes $50k combined WIP and rural generalist incentive.
  • Option 3: 12 days on (1 weekend and two weeks), 44 days off (seven weekends and 6 weeks) – income for experienced rural SPs up to $186k annually which includes $30k combined WIP and rural generalist incentive. *
  • Option 4: Short term Locum contracts available to start immediately
* WIP incentives vary with duration of rural and remote experience and require 1 year of service with a minimum Medicare claim.
 
What do you need to apply?
 
  • Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) and Fellow of the RACGP or ACCRM
  • Extensive experience in General Practice with experience in remote Aboriginal Health an advantage
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues effecting the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in contemporary society
 
NT PHN/RWA NT may be able to offer support and financial assistance to health professionals who are relocating to the NT or moving within the NT to a greater remoteness area classification for the purposes of employment and further clinical education.
