Support for older Territorians navigating the aged care is expanding, with additional funding from NT PHN increasing access to Care Finder services.

Anglicare NT will extend its reach across Greater Darwin, while CatholicCare NT has been commissioned to introduce the service in the Barkly region from mid-2026.

Care Finder is a free service for older people who may be vulnerable, isolated or experiencing homelessness. It provides practical, personalised assistance to help navigate the aged care system and connect with services to live safely and with dignity.

In Greater Darwin, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients can now access culturally appropriate care through Danila Dilba Health Service’s Elder Care Support Program. Previously, Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation was funded through NT PHN to deliver these services, however the organsiation recently stepped away from aged care service delivery to focus on their core mission, empowering Darwin’s traditional owners. NT PHN Regional Health Partnerships Lead, Jonathon Pearce, acknowledged Larrakia Nation’s contribution to the program.

“We thank Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation for their support in delivering Care Finder services since the program commenced in 2023,” Mr Pearce said.

“Ensuring culturally safe care has been to the program’s success, and their support helped make this a reality.

“Anglicare NT continues to play a key role in service delivery, and we look forward to strengthening this partnership as the program grows.

“We’re also pleased the Barkly region will soon have access to Care Finder, making it possible for older Territorians to access support closer to home,” Mr Pearce said.

Anglicare NT has delivered Care Finder services since 2023, with this expansion strengthening access across Darwin and Palmerston.
