APODA Live & Local Darwin – Offloading to support preventing and healing of diabetes foot ulcers in PHC

AMSANT and APODA invite you to join them in this practical workshop where you will learn the basic skills and principles of ‘offloading’.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is for diabetes educators, OTs, dieticians, nurses, AHAs, GPs and other health professionals who would like to increase their knowledge and skills in this area. Podiatrists will be on hand to share their skills.

Overview

Timely wound care and application of offloading devices and materials is critical to support healing in plantar foot ulcers. Given that people have limited access to Podiatry care in the NT, upskilling AHPs, AHAs, RNs and GPs on offloading to reduce plantar pressure and shear pressure during daily weight-bearing activity to support healing of diabetes foot ulcers is critical.

So come along and learn some practical skills in this unique skill sharing session with podiatrists. Learn how to apply offloading felt to prevent ulceration caused by high plantar tissue stress that can lead to subcutaneous tissue damage.

The workshop will be held prior to For Feet’s Sake – High Risk Foot Advocacy & Networking which will conclude with an hour of informal networking where you’ll enjoy the finest finger food and beverages. Both events are free for APodA members. Why not register for both!
