NT PHN to enhance payment security with Eftsure

Northern Territory Primary Health Network (NT PHN) has integrated Eftsure software, a payment fraud prevention system, to improve online transaction security measures. Eftsure verifies supplier details to ensure the payments are protected against fraud and error.

Why NT PHN uses Eftsure?

NT PHN with Eftsure underscores its commitment to excellence in safeguarding financial transactions and data integrity. The verification procedures of Eftsure align with NT PHN’s standards, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and reinforcing stakeholder confidence. The system will help our contracted suppliers and organisations to validate their details and the integrity of online transactions. It makes the electronic payment process secure and quick.

How Eftsure works

Eftsure goes through a robust verification process to ensure your contact and payment details are correct. All vendors associated with NT PHN are required to follow this process.

If you are a newly contracted individual/organisation with NT PHN, you will undergo a verification process with Eftsure once, when you are first engaged by us.

2-step verification process

Step 1

An onboarding invite/change request is initiated by NT PHN through the Eftsure portal. The contracted person/organisation will receive a form that they can fill in and submit online.

Step 2

The recipient can choose from 2 verification options:

Bank link:

  • select your bank account details from your bank without entering the details manually.
  • log into your bank for an instant verification of your bank details as they are cross match against formal records of Australian Business Register (ABR).
  • your credentials are not seen or stored by anyone at Eftsure as the direct bank uses Illion, a recognised Australian credit bureau.

Phone call:

  • a fraud verification analyst will contact you for an initial screen validation process.
  • the analyst will conduct a thorough two-way account number verification process to ensure legitimacy and security.

Banks don’t match BSBs and account numbers to account names when making payments.

Cybercriminals often intercept emails between suppliers and their customers (or just email customers directly) and claim the bank details for the supplier have changed (or even change it on legitimate invoices). This is often done without your knowledge. As a result, it is possible for hackers, fraudsters or malicious insiders to change the bank details your customers have on file for you, and route payments intended for you to themselves.

To protect your revenue, Australian businesses use Eftsure software to validate all their suppliers’ bank account details and ensure the details they have on file for you are correct.

This one-off verification ensures that payments made to your organisation indeed reach your bank account.

No, there is no charge for suppliers to be verified by Eftsure.
