Attracting and retaining skilled staff is a key priority for regional and rural healthcare providers in the NT and is essential to delivering high quality care.
For Katherine Physio, support through the Rural Workforce Agency NT and the NT Thrive Grant program has helped build workforce capacity and improve access to physiotherapy services across Katherine and surrounding remote communities.
Owner Alethe Trengove said this additional support has helped increase appointment availability and enabled staff to continue meeting increased demand while maintaining high standards of care.
“The NT Thrive Grant program has provided valuable relocation and financial support for incoming physiotherapists, making moving to a rural town like Katherine a more achievable and attractive option,” Alethe said.
“We have been able to attract and retain more quality clinicians, helping us meet increasing community demand and continue providing essential healthcare services to the region.”
With additional physiotherapists joining the team, Katherine Physio has been able to operate at greater capacity, improving access to care and expanding service offerings for the community.
“This has helped reduce wait times, improve continuity of care, and increase the availability of services such as group Pilates classes.”
