RANZCP NT & NT PHN Travelling Scholar Program with Dr Tetanya Rocks, ‘The Diet–Microbiota–Gut–Brain Axis: From Mechanisms to Meals’ Darwin
Psychiatrists and GPs are invited to join the RANZCP NT and the NT PHN for the 2026 Travelling Scholar CPD Evening.
The RANZCP NT Branch and NT PHN welcomes Deakin University’s Food and Mood Academy Lead, Dr Tetanya Rocks as our 2026 Travelling Scholar.
Presenter
Dr Tetanya Rocks, Accredited Practicing Dietitan, Senior Research Fellow.
- Dr Rocks is the lead of Deakin University’s Food and Mood Academy, a leading research and education centre in the emerging field of Nutritional Psychiatry. (https://foodandmoodcentre.com.au/academy/)
- Tetyana’s work focusses on translating evidence into effective education and practice. Tetyana’s work is supported by the Wilson Foundation and by Roberts Family Foundation. This work enables implementation of the latest research in Nutritional Psychiatry into transdiagnostic clinical practice and supports globally connected education, directly addressing the current gap between evidence and practice.
- Tetyana is regularly invited to speak at academic, professional, and community events in Australia and overseas. She is also developing advanced resources for training and upskilling professionals and workforce.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session participants will be able to:
- Explore the diet-gut-brain connection in a way that is relevant to clinical practice.
- Identify key diet- and gut-focused strategies to support mental health.
- Discuss practical, context-sensitive strategies for translating gut–brain science into dietary behaviour change, including in food-insecure and high alcohol-use settings.
CPD
*One hour of self-reported CPD for RANZCP, RACGP & ACRRM members and other primary health professionals.
*As a general guide, one hour of active learning equates to one hour of CPD. It is the responsibility of the individual student to calculate how many hours of active learning have been completed. The hours of active learning estimated above should act as a guide to CPD hours.
