The NT PHN invites you to join us for an online CPD education session with NT SARC and presenter Prudence Boylan.

The NT experiences the highest rates of domestic, family and sexual violence in Australia.

This upcoming CPD session will provide an opportunity for you to update your knowledge about the prevalence and patterns of sexual assault, the primary healthcare inputs, including the NT-specific reporting pathways. Learn about the evacuation process (PATS) and Care Flight. Understand client safety and SARC service provision pathways for paediatrics and adults.

Prudence Boylan is the Manger of NT SARC, Top End. Prue is also a highly experienced Registered Nurse.

What you will Learn

• Clarification of SARC services.
• NT-specific Mandatory reporting process
• SARC service provision pathways  – adults and paediatrics.
• Prevalence and patterns of sexual assault and associated health risks Consent and the law Initial management of sexual assault – disclosure, primary health care input and safety management.
• Evacuation process (PATS) & Care flight – client safety, medical & forensic evidence considerations.
• Discussion – use of preliminary forensic samples for forensic analysis and chain of evidence requirements.
• Safety planning – protective behaviours and health education provision

Learning Objective

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

• describe the services offered by NT SARC and identify when and how to refer patients to NT SARC, ensuring appropriate and timely access to their services.
