Professor Bob Batey
Prof. Bob Batey has been a Hepatologist since 1976 as well as specializing in Addiction Medicine 1981. He has been serving the Alice Springs Hospital as the visiting Hepatologist since 2007, parallel to working in Addiction Medicine on the Central Coast in NSW.
Of all his experiences, Prof. Bob Batey notably regards his time in Alice Springs as the most fascinating and enjoyable time of his life.
Further crediting the amazing teaching and mentoring he has received over decades from colleagues around the country for this education.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this session participants will be able to:
1). Understand the importance of testing and treating HCV in the global effort to eliminate the disease.
2). Comprehend the role and application of Point of Care testing for HCV in current healthcare settings.
3). Identify the most effective drugs for HCV treatment and recognise who is authorised to prescribe them.
4). Understand the role of HBV serology and HBV DNA testing in the diagnosis and management of HBV.
5). Determine which patients require treatment for HBV and who does not.
6). Identify the patient population that should be regularly screened for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
