Become an approved immunisation provider for free with the Benchmarque Group.
The Immunisation Course for Healthcare Professionals has been designed for professionals who can practice as approved immunisation providers. The learning aligns with the national legislative requirements while still allowing students to explore the specific elements of the state or territory they work in.
The updated course now has expanded eligibility and will be delivered as a new 5-Day intensive delivery model at Palmerston Hospital Campus.
The Immunisation Course for Health Professionals is based on the National Immunisation Education Framework for Health Professionals. It has been accredited by Health Education Services Australia (HESA).
This nationally accredited course is for AHPRA-registered healthcare professionals who can practice as approved immuniser providers.
Approved providers work in various settings, including community, primary healthcare, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, aged care, tertiary settings and corporate organisations.
Entrants to the Immunisation Course for Health Professionals will be asked to provide their AHPRA registration number for entry into the course and hold one of the following relevant roles:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners
- Enrolled Nurses
- General Practitioners
- Paramedics
- Pharmacists
- Registered Midwives
- Registered Nurses
We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health care professionals to complete this course. If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person we encourage you to let us know in your application. If you require assistance with completing your application or support during the course please don’t hesitate to let us know.
Delivery
Over the course of five intensive days, participants engage in interactive workshops, supplemented by innovative digital tools and resources. The experience includes:
- Dynamic face-to-face workshop sessions led by experienced instructors
- Hand-on skills activities
- Participants engage in simulated scenarios, role-plays, and skills demonstrations to develop proficiency in key immunisation practices
- Assessment tasks, such as quizzes, case studies, and skills assessments
- Instructors provide constructive feedback and support to guide participants in their learning journey and address any areas for improvement
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this 5-day workshop, participants will be able to:
Unit 1Â – Source immunisation information in primary healthcare
Unit 2Â – Examine and apply guidance on administrative processes for immunisation services
Unit 3Â – Prepare for immunisation encounter
Unit 4Â – Determine and communicate immunisation needs for priority populations
Unit 5Â – Source and communicate immunisation legislation in primary healthcare

Funding for Remote Health Professionals
Remote health professionals working in private practices, non-government organizations located in areas classified as MMM 3-7, and/or Aboriginal Community Controlled Organizations located in areas classified as MMM 1-7 within the Northern Territory can apply for a Health Workforce Scholarship Program (HWSP) grant to offset the cost of their travel and accommodation.
