The 4th International Indigenous Health and Wellbeing Conference 2025 theme is Strong, Fearless, Together and honours the legacy of our co-patron and namesake, the late Dr Lowitja O’Donoghue AC CBE DSG.

This year’s Conference will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre at the heart of Tarntanya / Adelaide on the banks of KarrawIrra Pari (River Torrens),

Conference Themes

The overarching theme, of Strong, Fearless, Together is reflected in four key areas:

Internationally Renowned Speakers include:

1. Professor Rauna Kuokkanen
   • Rauna Kuokkanen is Research Professor of Arctic Indigenous Politics at the University of Lapland (Finland) and Adjunct Professor of Political Science at the University of Toronto.
2. Professor Sheryl Lightfoot
   • Sheryl Lightfoot is Canada Research Chair of Global Indigenous Rights and Politics and Professor with the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs, Department of Political Science, and First Nations and Indigenous Studies at the University of British Columbia. She is one of the world’s experts in global Indigenous politics.
3. Distinguished Professor Linda Tuhiwai Smith
   • Distinguished Professor Linda Tuhiwai Smith, PhD. CNZM. Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Porou, Tuhourangi. Linda is both a Professor at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi and the CEO of Ngā Āhuatanga O Te Kai Ltd. The Kai Research Institute.
