Advanced Life Support Course (ALS) Level 2 on the Gold Coast 6-7 August 2025

This two-day Advanced Life Support (ALS) Level 2 course is designed for healthcare professionals who want to develop leadership, critical thinking, and advanced decision-making skills in resuscitation.

The Nurses for Nurses ALS Program

Pre-Course Activities
To be completed before day one (you will need to put aside at least 5 hours to complete):

  • A course workbook that includes practice exams
  • A number of webinars on key aspects of course content

Structure

  • Duration: Two days (plus pre-reading and online video component)
  • Content: Combination of theory, practical skill development, and assessment
  • Format: In-person learning with experienced facilitators supporting and coaching you throughout

Learning Objectives

At the end of this training participants will be able to:

    • Understand the difference between collapse and cardiac arrest, recognising the specific signs and causes

    • Identify causes of unconsciousness, including head injuries, epilepsy, and overdose

    • Learn that loss of consciousness does not always mean cardiac arrest

    • Emphasise correct response in medical emergencies:

      • Perform pulse checks before starting cardiac compressions

      • Only perform compressions if the patient is pulseless

    A strong emphasis is placed on assessing before acting, ensuring a deliberate and accurate approach to emergency care.

Additional Certification

As part of this course, you also have access to the theoretical component of Basic Life Support (BLS). By undertaking a competency assessment during the course, you will also be awarded a CPR Basic Life Support certificate — providing you with an added credential at no extra cost.

CPD

15 CPD Hours.

This course will be conducted by Health Ed. Professionals and continuing professional development hours are endorsed by the Australian College of Nursing and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.

This course is fully compliant with the latest ANZCOR guidelines.

On successful completion of the assessment, you will be awarded a certificate in Advanced Life Support Level 2 and CPR Basic Life Support.
