Free Alice Springs GP CPD Education Evening: ‘Vascular Surgery Referrals – why, what and when, and when not ! A guide for GP management of vascular conditions’

The NT PHN invites you to join us for a CPD education evening with Vascular Surgeon Dr Mark Hamilton at the Mercure Resort Alice Springs.

Who is this education for?

We encourage all GPs to attend.

Presenter

Mark Hamilton is the Clinical Lead for Vascular Surgery in the NT.  He has been visiting Alice Springs for almost 16 years, initially from Adelaide and now Darwin, and for almost ten years was the sole vascular surgeon in the NT.   The vascular service in the NT provides comprehensive evidence based vascular treatments for all of the NT and the upper 1/3 of WA as well as Timor Leste.  He is also part of AUSMAT Humanitarian Assistance Teams, is actively involved in education at both undergraduate and post graduate level, and for many years has been part of outreach programs to the pacific, particularly for provision of dialysis access.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify common vascular conditions requiring referral to a specialist.
  • Recognise conditions that can be managed in primary care.
  • Determine appropriate pre-referral investigations to optimise patient care and streamline specialist assessment.

HealthPathways

RACGP and ACRRM acknowledge HealthPathways as a valuable clinical tool for GPs and have endorsed its use to contribute to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements. HealthPathways provides clinical information for local practitioners and the opportunity to engage in reflective practices to deepen comprehension of patients’ clinical conditions, enhancing overall patient care.

More information can be found on the CPD Hours for HealthPathways Use page and access is provided via healthpathways@ntphn.org.au

CPD

*One hour of self-reported CPD.
*As a general guide, one hour of active learning equates to one hour of CPD. It is the responsibility of the individual student to calculate how many hours of active learning have been completed. The hours of active learning estimated above should act as a guide to CPD hours.
