‘How to Use Continuous Glucose Monitoring. Try One Yourself!’

The NT PHN invites Primary Health Professionals to join us for this free CPD education evening at Knotts Crossing in Katherine with our presenter, Senior Endocrinologist, Dr Judy Luu. Platters will be served after the presentation.

Dr Luu will be demonstrating how to use a continuous glucose monitor. You can even try one yourself!

Who is this for?

We encourage GPs and GP Registrars. Diabetes Educators, Allied Health & Nurses working in primary health settings to attend.

Presenter

Dr Judy Luu

Dr Luu is a Senior Staff Specialist Endocrinologist and General Physician based at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, NSW. She obtained her primary medical degree from The University of Sydney in 2000 and fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2010 with dual specialisation in endocrinology and general medicine. Dr Luu also holds a Master of International Public Health and Graduate Diploma in Medical Biostatistics.

She has worked at John Hunter Hospital since 2010 and is the current Director of General Medicine. She was the Clinical Lead for the Diabetes Stream of Hunter New England Local Health District from 2016-2018 and is a conjoint lecturer in the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Newcastle.

Dr Luu’s  areas of interest include diabetes, metabolic bone disorders, transgender health, and general endocrinology.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the role of glucose monitoring in the management of diabetes.
  2. Summarise the current evidence supporting the use of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM).
  3. Identify common barriers, limitations and pitfalls associated with CGM technology.
  4. Interpret an ambulatory glucose profile (AGP) report to inform clinical decision-making.
  5. Explain the principles of hybrid closed loop continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion.
