Dr Catherine Boyd and Dr Chris Vladcoff will discuss how to identify and manage eating disorders for young people attending your general practice.
You will also hear from Right Care Right Place Program Coordinator, Jacqui Cleghorn about how the Program can support you to provide appropriate treatment to young people, and how it’s working towards culturally appropriate, and inclusive support and treatment in our region for people at risk of, or experiencing eating disorders and their families.
GP Liaison Officer, Dr Roxane Craig will provide a GP update prior to the main presentation.
Dr Catherine Boyd: Catherine is a general paediatrician and the adolescent and eating disorder clinical lead at Royal Darwin Hospital. She has had over 20 years of experience working with children and adolescents with eating disorders and has worked extensively in the NT over the last 20 years. Catherine enjoys working and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient care. Catherine lives in Darwin with her family.Â
Dr Chris Vladcoff: Chris is a local GP here in Darwin and Fellow of the RACGP. He commenced his career in Psychiatry before making a change to General Practice, where he completed his GP training in the NT. He works at headspace Darwin, where he is the GP for their Enhanced Care program (which provides management for young people with more complex mental health care needs, including those with eating disorders), as well as conducting his private practice there.
This session includes a formal presentation followed by a peer-led discussion so please bring your questions and experiences with you so you can participate.
By the end of this session, participations will be able to:
*One hour of self-reported CPD.
*As a general guide, one hour of active learning equates to one hour of CPD. It is the responsibility of the individual student to calculate how many hours of active learning have been completed. The hours of active learning estimated above should act as a guide to CPD hours.
