Free Training: Forensic & Medical Management of Adult & Child Sexual Assault & Abuse 23 – 25 August 2023, Darwin

The NT Department of Health is offering FREE training to clinicians who would like to join the team at the Sexual Assault Referral Centre SARC) in Darwin.

SARC is recruiting medical and nursing staff for salaried and on-call positions. Following completion of this training course, all clinicians will have the opportunity to apply to work on the on-call roster as a member of the SARC team.

Training Prerequisites

This COMBINED course has a focus upon Forensic and Medical Management of Adult and Child Sexual Assault and Abuse.

Prerequisites for managing adult clients are as follows:

  • nurses/midwives and  GP’s with women’s health experience including use of speculums (not essential – we will teach) & sexual health care; O&G consultants / registrars

Prerequisites for training to manage paediatric clients:

  • medically trained; either paediatrician, paediatric registrar, or GP/RMO with substantial paediatric experience and ideally a Dip Paeds.

ALL participants need to attend a courtroom scenario session as part of the training requirement. This will take place during the training course.
