The NT PHN invites Alice Springs GPs to join us for a free CPD evening with ASH Consultant Oncologist, Dr Matthew Links.

Who is this for?

We encourage all GPs and GP Registrars working in primary health settings to attend to learn how your practice can best support your patients living with cancer.

Dr Matthew Links 

• Dr Matthew Links has recently taken up the position of resident medical oncologist in Alice Springs and clinical lead for cancer services. He has been a practicing oncologist for 30 years and brings experience in clinical practice, research and education across NSW and Queensland. He has been a Professor at Bond and Griffith Universities, a director of Clinical Training at Gold Coast University Hospital and had leadership roles within the RACP. In the last 4 years he has been a FIFO Oncologist in Alice springs and has moved here with a passion for improving the outcomes of remote and indigenous cancer patients and for life in Central Australia.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, GPs will be able to:

• Identify evidence-based sources of information to support general practice care for patients with cancer.
• Describe the role of the GP in a cancer shared care model.
• Explain the common toxicities associated with broad classes of anti-cancer drugs relevant to general practice.
