The NT PHN invites Katherine GPs and allied health professionals to join us for a free CPD evening at Knotts’ Crossing, with endocrinologist Dr Judy Luu.
Who is this for?
General Practitioners, GP Registrars, nurses and allied health professionals working in primary healthcare.
Presenter
Dr Luu is a senior endocrinologist and general physician based at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, NSW. She obtained her primary medical degree from The University of Sydney in 2000 and fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2010 with dual specialisation in endocrinology and general medicine. Dr Luu also holds a Master in International Public Health and Graduate Diploma in Medical Biostatistics.
She has worked at John Hunter Hospital since 2010 and is the current Director of General Medicine. She was the Clinical Lead for the Diabetes Stream of Hunter New England Local Health District from 2016-2018 and is a conjoint lecturer in the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Newcastle.
Dr Luu’s areas of interest include diabetes, metabolic bone disorders, transgender health, and general endocrinology.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
- Describe the interrelationship between cardiac, renal, and metabolic health in clinical practice.
- Summarise current evidence for SGLT2 inhibitors, GLP-1 receptor agonists, and non-steroidal MRAs in the management of cardiorenal metabolic health.
- Apply contemporary guidelines for screening and managing type 2 diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and heart failure.
- Identify practical considerations for initiating and monitoring new therapeutic agents in patients with cardiorenal metabolic health conditions.
